I'm Riding to Find a Cure for Cancer

Mark Swirsky

Mark Swirsky

Dear Friends and Family,

I will be participating in 6 day ride to raise funds for cancer research called "The Road to Victories" in August 2018 as part of the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation (MMRF) Team For Cures. A group of cyclists will ride through Glacier National Park, up the Going-To-The-Sun Road, reaching the top of the Continental Divide, before heading north to Waterton Lakes National Park in Alberta, Canada, (and then we ride back).

The work ahead of me? I'm training hard for 12 weeks to be able to take on this 6 day ride through two national parks, over some big mountains. I've committed to raise at least $5,000 to support the MMRF. Training for this event is a big challenge for me, but nothing compared to the challenges faced by patients with multiple myeloma.

We all have a connection to cancer, and I am supporting the MMRF because they are a game-changing cancer research organization. Their work is not only saving the lives of patients with multiple myeloma, a devastating blood cancer, but also is changing the way that cancer research is done so that the impact is across all cancers.

WHY DO WE DO THIS? Because riding a bike won't cure cancer, but research will! And research takes money. I want to be part of the action that is accelerating a cure.

Multiple myeloma is the second most common form of blood cancer and, sadly, has one of the lowest five-year survival rates of all cancers. But while there is no cure, great progress is being made because of the MMRF.

In fact, thanks to the important work of the MMRF, the world's leading private funder of myeloma research, the FDA has approved TEN new treatments in the past decade, including FOUR in just the past 3 years– a track record unparalleled in oncology. These drugs have TRIPLED the lifespan of myeloma patients. And now the MMRF is funding over 30 additional treatments in various stages of development, giving hope to tens of thousands of patients and their families.

The Goal: Raise $5,000 for the MMRF!

The MMRF is one of the most highly regarded cancer foundations in the world. An outstanding 90% of the total MMRF budget directly supports research and related programming. The MMRF is in the top 1% of all charities rated by charity watchdogs, and has earned Charity Navigator’s 4-star rating for the past twelve years in a row.

Please support my participation in the Road to Victories Glacier Grandeur event benefiting the MMRF. I have made a commitment to raise at least $5,000 and I need your help to get there!

Your 100% tax deductible donation goes directly to help fast track lifesaving treatments for myeloma patients. Please donate whatever you can to support this great effort! It all adds up!

Thanks!
Mark
