The Journey is the creation of Eric & Tani Gelber and was founded originally in 2007 to support one friend with an incurable cancer.  After many years of running organized and eventually solo events, The Journey became an epic event in Central Park as documented in the Tribeca Film and Resonant Pictures documentary “200 Miles”, proving that with the power of community and the will to succeed the seemingly impossible is achievable.  After 3 attempts, Eric completed 200 miles on foot in Central Park and raised over $1.3 million dollars in the fight against cancer for the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation.

Now, once again Eric and Tani are asking the community for help while continuing to grow the effort to raise awareness and find a cure for Multiple Myeloma.  This time it’s your turn to push your limits.

With the support of our friends at Celgene, we are pleased to announce the Journey Towards A Cure – 12 Hour Endurance Run/Relay.  This event is about coming together to support each other, raise awareness and funds for cancer research, and most of all celebrate life as a community through running in a festival like atmosphere with great food and music.  The run will be a 12-hour solo and relay format on a 4 mile loop course around Randall’s Island Park in New York City.  There will be several award categories for solo and relay runners and all runners will receive a customizable fundraising page.

Randall’s Island Park is one of New York City’s unique and multi-faceted public parks.  The park is located on an island in the East River and features a wide array of fields and spaces including miles of waterfront pathways for running, walking and cycling.  The park is home to sporting events on its over 60 playing fields, concerts and festivals, and now a-first-of-its-kind running event, “The Journey”.
