The health and well-being of our patients is our top priority. We want to let you know that we have been monitoring the Coronavirus (COVID-19) situation closely and will provide any updates to you as soon as possible. We advise that everyone must make their own decisions with regard to managing their risk of exposure. We encourage anyone exhibiting symptoms to please consult your physician. If you have any additional questions about COVID-19, you may contact the MMRF Patient Navigation Center (PNC) at 888-841-6673. The PNC is a resource center staffed with full-time, specially trained hematology/oncology patient navigators that provide support to patients and their caregivers. Join the MMRF as we continue to expand our program to new heights with
the Moving Mountains for Multiple Myeloma (MM4MM) Program!

In April 2020, this team of MMRF hikers who have been specially selected to form the Moving Mountains for Multiple Myeloma Grand Canyon Rim to Rim team will embark on this challenging trek to touch both sides of the Grand Canyon.

This challenging and awe-inspiring three-day trek (5 days including travel) takes hikers on a journey to explore the inner world of the Grand Canyon. This trek allows hikers to experience this natural wonder of the world like only true adventurers can! This legendary hike takes us from the North Rim to the South Rim of the Grand Canyon. Our adventure begins with countless switchbacks as we head down 5,500 feet into the Grand Canyon, hiking into nearly two billion years of the Earth’s geological past. As we trek, we see waterfalls and take in the awe-inspiring views, arriving at renowned Phantom Ranch, our home for two nights. We spend Day 2 along the mighty Colorado River, resting our legs and preparing for our climb out the following day. We start Day 3 early, to get a cool start and give ourselves plenty of time to ascend the 10 miles and 2,000 feet to the Southern Rim.

We are proud to partner with the experts at Adventure Fundraisinga US-based company who will guide us on this expedition as they have done for our past Iceland and Grand Canyon: Havasu Falls treks. Note that no special equipment, special training, or any technical climbing is required.

This team will be made up of multiple myeloma patients, caregivers, doctors, clinicians, nurses, and others connected to multiple myeloma. This is a powerful and life-changing experience as the team overcomes challenges, pushes beyond perceived limits, and honors loved ones and friends living with multiple myeloma. This MM4MM team is LIVING PROOF that the work being done by the MMRF and our research partners is helping myeloma patients live longer and more active lives.

Thanks to the generous support of our sponsors, the MMRF is able to underwrite most of the trekking costs of the trip. Team members agree to raise a minimum of $3,500 per person. Please see "Event Info" page to find out more about what is included.

Prospective team members for the Grand Canyon Rim to Rim trek team must apply for and be selected to join the team. Teams are made up of individuals who have a direct connection to multiple myeloma: Patients, caregivers, family members of patients, and those who work directly with myeloma patients. Team members are encouraged to maximize fundraising efforts. Applications will be selected on a rolling basis until teams reach capacity.
