We advise that everyone must make their own decisions with regard to managing their risk of exposure. We encourage anyone exhibiting symptoms to please consult your physician. In June, 2020, this team of MMRF hikers who have been specially selected to form the Moving Mountains for Multiple Myeloma Kenai Peninsula Alaskan trek team will embark on the trip of a lifetime. This team will traverse a remote section of Alaska experiencing the sights and challenges that this landscape has to offer.

This challenging and awe-inspiring six-day trek (seven days including travel) takes hikers on a journey through the rugged and spectacular landscape of Alaska. This Alaskan trek on the Kenai Peninsula begins in Homer, Alaska, known as “The End of the Road”. We will hike into wilderness that feels like the ends of the Earth, through temperate rain forests, alongside glaciers that plunge down mountains and get a glimpse at local wildlife while taking on challenging terrain where you will earn your bragging rights. This six-day hike will inspire the team and provide a challenge and experience that will last a lifetime.

We are proud to partner with the experts at Backroads Travel, a US-based company and leader in world travel who will guide us on this trek as they have done for our Road to Victories rides. Note that no special equipment, special training, or any technical climbing is required.

This team will be made up of multiple myeloma patients, caregivers, doctors, clinicians, nurses, and others connected to multiple myeloma. This is a powerful and life-changing experience as the team overcomes challenges, pushes beyond perceived limits, and honors loved ones and friends living with multiple myeloma. This MM4MM team is LIVING PROOF that the work being done by the MMRF and our research partners is helping myeloma patients live longer and more active lives.

Thanks to the generous support of our sponsors, the MMRF is able to underwrite most of the trekking costs of the trip. Team members agree to raise a minimum of $5,000 per person. Please see "Event Info" page to find out more about what is included.

Prospective team members for the Kenai Peninsula Alaskan trek team must apply for and be selected to join the team. Teams are made up of individuals who have a direct connection to multiple myeloma: Patients, caregivers, family members of patients, and those who work directly with myeloma patients. Team members are encouraged to maximize fundraising efforts. Applications will be selected on a rolling basis until teams reach capacity.
