Patagonia Alumni Trek
This Team is Now FULL!
Join the MMRF as we continue to expand our program to new heights with
the Moving Mountains for Multiple Myeloma (MM4MM) Program!
On November 1 - 10, 2019, fifteen Alumni MMRF hikers will embark on the trip of a lifetime through world-renowned Patagonia. This team will traverse Patagonia, crossing over glaciers, through deep valleys, and ascending challenging peaks.
This challenging and awe-inspiring six-day trek (twelve days including travel) takes even novice climbers on a journey through the incredible landscape of South America. This wonderland of mountains, valleys, lakes, rivers, glaciers, and wildlife covers some 600,000 acres.
We are proud to partner with the experts at Embark Adventures, a US-based company and leader in world travel who will guide us on this expedition as they have done for our Mt. Kilimanjaro and Everest Base Camp treks. Note that no special equipment, special training, or any technical climbing is required.
This team will be made up of multiple myeloma patients, caregivers, doctors, clinicians, nurses, and others connected to multiple myeloma who have participated with a Moving Mountains for Multiple Myeloma team previously. This is a powerful and life-changing experience as the team overcomes challenges, pushes beyond perceived limits, and honors loved ones and friends living with multiple myeloma. This MM4MM team is LIVING PROOF that the work being done by the MMRF and our research partners is helping myeloma patients live longer and more active lives.
This trek offers alumni MM4MM hikers the opportunity to join us again in another incredible location! Team members agree to raise a minimum of $5,000 per person. Hikers are responsible for the majority of all trek costs - please see the "Event Info" page to learn more about what is covered at certain fundraising levels.
Prospective team members for Patagonia team must apply for and be selected to join the team. Teams are made up of individuals who have a direct connection to multiple myeloma: Patients, caregivers, family members of patients, and those who work directly with myeloma patients. Team members are encouraged to maximize fundraising efforts. Applications will be selected on a rolling basis until teams reach capacity.
