Moving Mountains for Multiple Myeloma (MM4MM) is an award wining collaboration between the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation (MMRF) and CURE Magazine to raise funds and awareness for myeloma research.

Teams of 16-20 are carefully selected to represent a microcosm of the myeloma community: patients, caregivers, family members and others with a direct connection to multiple myeloma.

Since 2016, Moving Mountains for Multiple Myeloma teams have climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro, hiked the Grand Canyon, trekked the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu, summited Mount Fuji, explored the landscape of Iceland, and reached Everest Base Camp. Our team members have raised over $1.9 million, 90% of which goes directly to myeloma research. These amazing journeys were captured via blogs, social media posts, and video.

Now in its third year, the program will expand to exciting new challenges in 2019. Three trek options are available of varying difficult and length to provide a diverse range of options for all interested participants. Patients, caregivers, myeloma loved ones, and others impacted directly by multiple myeloma will take on the “W” trek through Patagonia, summit Mount Washington, and discover the varied and dynamic terrain of Iceland. They will raise funds for multiple myeloma research and demonstrate that the advancements being made in recent years, funded and spearheaded by the MMRF, are helping patients live longer with a higher quality of life than ever before.

Mount Washington: June 28 - 30, 2019  LEARN MORE & APPLY NOW
Mount Washington is the highest peak in the northeastern United States and the most prominent peak east of the Mississippi at 6,288 feet above sea level. Known for its extreme weather and popularity in the hiking world, this is a very exclusive opportunity to climb as a team with the MMRF.

If you are a moderate to experienced hiker looking for an outstanding summer adventure in the name of cancer research, this is absolutely the hike for you! One our first day we will gain over 4,000 feet in elevation to reach this famous peak, before climbing down lower to spend the night in the picturesque Lakes of the Clouds hut. The next morning will find you on the winding ascent down, where you can celebrate your epic hike!

Iceland Fire + Ice Trek: August 7 - 11, 2019  LEARN MORE & APPLY NOW
The trek’s 3 days of challenging and spectacular hiking includes an assortment of geologic marvels, including volcanoes, glaciers, gorges, lava beds, waterfalls, mountains. Geothermal activity in the form of steam and green and yellow sulfur coming from the rocks we pass coupled with the topography make this mountainous hike otherworldly.

Hikers will be selected to take part in this two and a half day overland trek through and over Iceland's incredible landscape. Expect 7-8 hours of rigorous hiking, with our end of day destination being mountain huts situated in remote, incredible settings. This untouched land offers an other-worldly feel - one moment you will be traversing a lava field only to find yourself sleeping in a mountain hut sandwiched between two glaciers that same night!

Patagonia: November 9 - 19, 2019  LEARN MORE & APPLY NOW
In 2019, MM4MM adds a bucket list trek - Patagonia - demonstrating that we will go to the ends of the Earth to find a cure for myeloma! Though it technically lies in both Argentina and Chile, Patagonia is a place of its own - a land of glaciers, expansive lakes, and awesome steppes and peaks so jagged and immense they pause the mind and stir the heart.

We will travel from Santiago to remote Southern Chile Patagonia. Hiking on wide, wind-swept, and awe-inspiring trails, we will come to know the magic of this incredible place as we trek hut to hut along the famous "W" Circuit (named for its shape). We will travel to Torres del Paine National Park, truly a wonderland of mountains, valleys, lakes, rivers, glaciers, and wildlife. Experience the massive and iconic "torres" (towers) themselves, granite walls and spires, soaring more than 8,000 feet above sea level. Overall, we will cover more than 40 miles on this trek.
