Dear Friends & Family

As many of you know I took a huge leap of faith this fall. I quit my job and moved the kids & I four thousand miles for a chance at a better life. Everything has fallen into place so perfectly. My realtor in Alaska in a down market with an expensive house in need a of a major remodel told me that us selling that house for asking price witthin a month was nothing short of a miracle. I can feel God working in our lives. My faith has never been stronger.

My father passed away from multiple myeloma June 2004. That feeling of loss never really goes away. Now that I have kids & going through this big transition I miss him more everyday instead of less. There are so many times I wish I could pick up the phone to call him.

My friend Kristina who I did my last Ironman with invited me to join her for this race. I was so excited to sign up. I tried multiple times but my registration would not work. Finally I got onto a desktop computer and the first thing that popped up was this opportunity to train with the multiple myeloma team, raise money & awareness for a cancer that took my Dad from us. It felt like a sign, my mom calls stuff like this “God winks”. It did seem as though my Dad was encouraging me to do this race and support the mmrf. He was always my biggest fan for my races. My first marathon was in 1997. It was pouring rain & about 40 degrees. My Dad was with me the whole time. He road his bike alongside me. The whole time cheering me on, he peeled my bananas when my hands were too cold to work, gave me his handkerchief to wipe my nose and was there at the end to wrap me in a blanket when I was borderline hypothermic.

Besides my Dad we’ve lost other close friends and family to this terrible cancer. Multiple myeloma knows no boundaries.

Multiple myeloma is the second most common form of blood cancer. Over 30,000 people are diagnosed yearly with multiple myeloma and an estimated 12,000 are predicted to die each year from the disease.

I'm proud to be part of the ACTION that is helping fund and fuel important research: Thanks to the important work of the MMRF and our partners, the FDA has approved TEN new treatments in the time that it usually takes for ONE new drug to come to market. There are more treatment options in the pipeline.

This is so important because myeloma is a cunning disease which morphs through treatment, meaning patients often need new treatment options when they relapse.

The MMRF is one of the most highly regarded cancer foundations in the world. Nearly 90% of the total MMRF budget goes directly towards research and related programming. The MMRF is in the top 1% of all charities.

Please support my participation in IRONMAN Florida benefiting the MMRF anyway you can. If you aren’t comfortable with a financial donation you can support me in other ways with a prayer or positive thoughts & energy!!

Thanked for taking the time to read to the end lots of love 💕
