Lyss Runs Boston

Alyssa Liguori

Alyssa Liguori

Hello Friends!

Like many other avid long distance runners, and as true New Englander at heart, it's been a dream of mine to run the Boston Marathon. When that dream became reality, I decided to make my miles count, which is why I am running as part of the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation (MMRF) Team for Cures, on April 15, 2019.

I'm running for MMRF, because it is a cause close to my heart. My grandpa, Esat Cami, passed away on Christmas 2016 from Multiple Myeloma, and my husband's grandma, Margaret Leonard, also passed away in 1998 from the disease. It is the second most common form of blood cancer, and had one of the lowest five-year relative survival rates of all cancers.

While there is still no cure, MMRF has been helping to make strides in research and finding a cure. The FDA has approved ten new treatments, including four just in the past 18 months, something unparalleled in the world of oncology. These new treatments have almost tripled the lifespans of myeloma patients, and MMRF is funding over 20 additional treatments in various stages of development, giving hope to tens of thousands of patients and their families.

I am running for those patients, their families, and in memory of Esat and Margaret. Please consider supporting my run for MMRF. My goal is to raise at least $10,000, and I'll need your help to get there. Please contribute whatever you can. It all adds up, and you'll be helping this game-changing cancer organization!
