Stuart Reisman

As you may already know, on November 4th, for the second time ever, and for the first time in over a decade (when I was a much younger lad), I will be running the New York City Marathon.

Although my athletic goal hasn’t changed much since I last ran the NYC Marathon and I hope to run the race as fast as I did back then, this time I will be running with another, far more important cause — I will be participating as part of the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation (MMRF) Team For Cures.

My specific goal is to raise at least $3,000 for the MMRF.

Here is some information about multiple myeloma and the MMRF:

1. Multiple myeloma is the second most common form of blood cancer.
2. Multiple myeloma has one of the lowest five-year relative survival rates of all cancers.
3. Despite great progress, there is no cure for multiple myeloma.
4. The MMRF is the world's leading private funder of myeloma research.
5. Thanks to the MMRF, the FDA has approved 10 new treatments, including four in the past 18 months – a track record that's unparalleled in the world of oncology. These drugs have almost tripled the lifespan of myeloma patients.
6. The MMRF is funding over 20 additional treatments in various stages of development, giving hope to tens of thousands of patients and their families.
7. The MMRF is one of the most highly regarded cancer foundations in the world. 90% of the total MMRF budget goes directly towards research and related programming. And the MMRF is in the top 1% of all charities, having earned Charity Navigator’s 4-star rating for the past eleven years in a row.

Please consider supporting my participation in the TCS NYC Marathon benefiting the MMRF. I have made a commitment to raise at least $3,000.

Thank you for your support.
