Dear Friends,

This one is for “Pa”!!

In November 2017, my whole world was shattered when my mom and my dad gathered my sister and I (and later my brother) into the kitchen and told us the devastating news… my dad had been diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma. I could literally feel my heart breaking as I learned that my Dad, my Hero, my “Pa” had been diagnosed with cancer… an incurable, horrible cancer! (a cancer that was very likely due to his exposure to Agent Orange while serving his country in Vietnam)

Since his diagnosis my dad has courageously battled through 25 rounds of radiation and countless months of chemotherapy (which he is still enduring)… all with my mom loyally by his side. Together they are fighting this awful disease and together they will continue the fight.

While there is no cure for multiple myeloma, great progress is being made. Thanks to the important work of the MMRF, the world's leading private funder of myeloma research, the FDA has approved TEN new treatments, including FOUR in just the past 18 months. These drugs have almost tripled the lifespan of myeloma patients.

It is not lost on me that all of this great progress that has been made in the fight against this horrible and devastating disease over the past 10 years has given me more years with my dad - years that I may not have had with him without the continued, dedicated work of the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation (MMRF).

So, this November, on November 4th, I will be running the NYC Marathon as part of the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation (MMRF) Team For Cures. I will be running for my dad, my mom, and for all the families before and after us who continue to fight this disease. With your help, I hope to raise at least $3,000 (or more!) to fund research into multiple myeloma.

Please consider donating... every little bit helps!

Thank you for your support,

90% of the total MMRF budget goes directly towards research and related programming. And the MMRF is ranked in the top 1% of all charities, having earned Charity Navigator’s 4-star rating for the past eleven years in a row. So you can be confident your donation is going to a world class organization.
