Cross the finish line with me, Robert and Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation (MMRF)

Luck is all about perspective.

It was my lucky day when I didn't make it into this year’s NYC Marathon through the lottery. Why? Because not winning a spot is what gave me the opportunity to run on behalf of the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation (MMRF) Team For Cures.

The goal – to make 26.2 miles on November 4th in New York City, and raise at least $3,000 for the MMRF. Believe me, training for this event is a big, big challenge for me. However, it’s nothing compared to the challenges faced by patients like those similar to my brother-in-law Robert (pictured with me) who have multiple myeloma cancer.

In case you’re not familiar with multiple myeloma, it’s the second most common form of blood cancer. And while there is no cure, great progress is being made thanks to the important work of the MMRF. As one of the most highly regarded cancer foundations in the world, MMRF has introduced ten FDA approved treatments, including four in just the past 18 months – a track record that's unparalleled in the world of oncology. These treatments have almost tripled the lifespan of myeloma patients. And now the MMRF is funding over 20 additional treatments in various stages of development, giving hope to tens of thousands of patients and their families, just like mine. We're fortunate, and lucky, Robert has benefited from the research of the MMRF and the doctors at UTSouthwestern.

I’ve made a commitment to raise at least $3,000 for MMRF. Lucky for you, I have a way for you to cross the finish line with me, Robert and the MMRF on November 4th. Please contribute whatever you can. No donation is too small (or too large) for this game-changing cancer organization. It all adds up! And at the end of the day, luck is what you make of it. Let's run up some good luck for more myeloma patients.

Tremendous thanks for your support.
