Dear Friends,

This race is for you BIG MAN!!!!! <3

I will be participating in the TCS NYC Marathon on November 4, 2018 as part of the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation (MMRF) Team For Cures.

On March 13th, 2015 my life would forever be changed. After coming home from work, I walked through the back door and instantly knew something was wrong. I walked through the house to find my parents sitting next to each other on the far side of the living room. Without either of them saying a word, I knew. I instantly started to cry and sat down. I let my parents tell me the worse news someone could be told. On March 13th, 2015, my Dad was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma.

I have never heard of Multiple Myeloma until this day. For those of you who don’t know, Multiple Myeloma is a cancer of plasma cells. Normal plasma cells are found in the bone marrow and are an important part of the immune system. The immune system is made up of several types of cells that work together to fight infections and other diseases. When plasma cells become cancerous and grow out of control, this is called multiple myeloma.

From March 23rd, 2015 to July 22nd, 2016 my Dad fought this awful cancer with such strength, motivation and positivity that I’ve been extremely inspired to run the 2018 NYC Marathon for the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation. Thanks to this foundation, my Dad is going on 2 years of being in remission. His 17-month battle may be over for now, but that doesn't mean his battle will ever be over.

I find myself extremely lucky to still have my Dad here with me and for him to be the Big Man that he truly is, even though he may be three inches shorter ;). It breaks my heart that not every family is this fortunate. If you could please donate to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation and raise awareness for Multiple Myeloma it would mean the world to me. Your donation will make important progress in Multiple Myeloma Research and improve the lives of countless patients and their family's. With your help, together we can continue to fight this battle together!

I cannot thank you enough!

Multiple myeloma is the second most common form of blood cancer and, sadly, has one of the lowest five-year relative survival rates of all cancers. But while there is no cure, great progress is being made.

In fact, thanks to the important work of the MMRF, the world's leading private funder of myeloma research, the FDA has approved TEN new treatments, including FOUR in just the past 18 months – a track record that's unparalleled in the world of oncology. These drugs have almost tripled the lifespan of myeloma patients. And now the MMRF is funding over 20 additional treatments in various stages of development, giving hope to tens of thousands of patients and their families.

The Goal: Raise $3,000 for the MMRF!

The MMRF is one of the most highly regarded cancer foundations in the world. An outstanding 90% of the total MMRF budget goes directly towards research and related programming. And the MMRF is in the top 1% of all charities, having earned Charity Navigator’s 4-star rating for the past eleven years in a row.

Please support my participation in the TCS NYC Marathon benefiting the MMRF. I have made a commitment to raise at least $3,000, and I need your help to get there. Please contribute whatever you can. It all adds up!

Please take this opportunity to give back and support this game-changing cancer organization.
