Calling all IRONFRIENDS, Warriors for GOOD, Game Changers and Rain Makers ....... Be a part of something really BIG in 2018!

Suzanne Weaver

Hello to all my Friends, Family and Warriors for GOOD!
It's hard to believe it's been 5 years since I did the Florida IRONMAN to raise awareness and funds for The Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation (MMRF) - one of the most highly regarded cancer foundations in the world!

You answered my challenge in a BIG way in 2013 raising over $36,000 for cancer research. Those funds have enabled the MMRF to bring 10 new treatments to patients suffering with Multiple Myeloma - 4 new treatments have been approved by the FDA in just the last 18 months- A track record that is unparalleled in the field of oncology!!!

As incredible as that amount was... I think we can beat it in 2018!!

This year I'm turning 50 so I wanted to set a really BIG challenge for myself (and for all of you)!!
In October 2018 I will be climbing 18,519 feet above sea level to Everest Base Camp-- the 'front door' of the tallest mountain in the world to try to raise $50,000 for the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation (MMRF) Team For Cures.

The drugs we helped fund have TRIPPLED the lifespan of myeloma patients after diagnosis. THAT'S HUGE!!
And now the MMRF is funding over 20 additional treatments in various stages of development, giving hope to tens of thousands of patients and their families.

When my friend Helen was diagnosed in 2013 (pictured above with me in Hawaii before the IRONMAN World Championship) she said she felt "hopeless" and "forgotten" until she heard about the success rate of the MMRF, she said that filled her with hope and she was ready to FIGHT!

Training for Mt. Everest is a big challenge, but nothing compared to the challenges faced by patients with Multiple Myeloma-- it's the second most common form of blood cancer and, sadly, has one of the lowest relative survival rates of all cancers.

The funds we will raise are critical for the MMRF's continued success in developing treatments for Multiple Myeloma and many other types of cancer. An outstanding 90% of the total MMRF budget goes directly towards research and related programming and the MMRF is in the top 1% of all charities, having earned Charity Navigator’s 4-star rating for the past eleven years in a row!

Sadly, statistics suggest that we will all be impacted by cancer at some point in our lives, either personally or someone we love. When cancer struck my family 5 years ago it was devastating. I would do anything to keep that from happening to another family.

I have made a commitment to raise $50,000 for the MMRF's life-extending cancer research! I will train hard and make the hike to Everest Base Camp- will you help by making a donation to this game-changing research organization? No donation is too small- It all adds up!

Thank you so much!
Suzi
