Moving Mountains for Multiple Myeloma (MM4MM) is an award wining collaboration between the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation (MMRF) and CURE Magazine to raise funds and awareness for myeloma research.

Teams of 16-20 are carefully selected to represent a microcosm of the myeloma community: patients, caregivers, family members and others with a direct connection to multiple myeloma.

Since 2016, Moving Mountains for Multiple Myeloma teams have climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro, hiked the Grand Canyon, trekked the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu, and summited Mount Fuji. Our team members have raised over $1.2 million, 90% of which goes directly to myeloma research. These amazing journeys were captured via blogs, social media posts, and video.

Now in its third year, the program will expand to exciting new challenges in 2018. Patients, caregivers, myeloma loved ones, and others impacted directly by multiple myeloma will take on new challenges - including Everest Base Camp/Kalapathhar, Havasupai in the Grand Canyon, and the volcanoes of Iceland - to raise funds for multiple myeloma research and to demonstrate that the advancements being made in recent years, funded and spearheaded by the MMRF, are helping patients live longer with a higher quality of life than ever before.

Havasu Falls/Grand Canyon Trek: May 2-6, 2018  LEARN MORE

Fire + Ice Iceland Trek: August 8-12, 2018  LEARN MORE
Hikers will be selected to take part in this two and a half day overland trek through and over geologic marvels, including volcanoes, glaciers, geysers, lava beds, and mountains. Participants spend the nights in mountain huts overlooking spectacular vistas. THIS TEAM IS NOW FULL.

Everest Base Camp: October 26 - November 8, 2018  LEARN MORE
Twenty hikers will embark on the trek of a lifetime, hiking the Himalayan highlands to the doorstep of the world's tallest mountain, Mt. Everest. This challenging and awe-inspiring nine-day trek (twelve days, including travel), takes even novice climbers on a strenuous but friendly journey through Nepal's magical Khumbu region, allowing for close-up views of dozens of Himalayan Giants without the dangers of a technical summit. MM4MM trekkers will sleep primarily in Nepalese teahouses, reaching an altitude of 18,519 feet above sea level. The experts at Embark Adventures, a US-based company and leader in world travel, will guide us on this expedition, as they have done for our two Mt. Kilimanjaro treks. Note that no special equipment, special training, or any technical climbing is required. THIS TEAM IS NOW FULL.

Thanks to the generous support of our sponsors, the MMRF is able to underwrite some of the traveling and trekking costs of the trips. Team members agree to raise funds as outlined in the applications.

If you have any questions, please reach out to us at All teams will be selected based on personal connection to multiple myeloma, enthusiasm for being a part of the Moving Mountains for Multiple Myeloma team, and their interest in and ability to maximize fundraising.
